Things We Love: Baskets

Baskets are the do-all of home décor, bringing thoughtful style to your living space while
working to keep it organized and uncluttered. Not only are they great to look at, as they come in
a myriad of colors, styles, sizes, and materials, but they can also serve an array of practical and
whimsical purposes within the home. Here at GoodWood, we use baskets to organize the store
and display merchandise, but the uses and applications of baskets are nearly endless.
We’ve pulled together some of our favorite functions to help inspire you to incorporate more
baskets into your own spaces.

Spruce Up Your Planters

Baskets are a fun and easy way to elevate your planter pots. Just find a basket that
complements your plant and décor, then make sure it’s large enough to accommodate the
plant’s original container to prevent leakage. We love that baskets can be easily swapped out
with the seasons, or as your plants grow.

Woven Wall Art

Use colorful baskets of varying shapes and sizes to create a vibrant display over a mantel, on
the wall of a bedroom, or entryway. Smaller baskets are great for working into an eclectic gallery
wall, too.

Curating Collections

Books, magazines, or even photo albums can be stylishly grouped, stored, and presented in a
basket next to your couch or coffee table for easy, unhindered access.

Elegant Entertaining

When it’s time to entertain, store your linen napkins, utensils, and fine china in a basket for easy
access and effortless presentation. Not only will baskets keep your dinnerware from being
damaged - whether in transit to the dinner table or by accident - but they can also serve as an
accent to your buffet line.

Kitchen Storage

Baskets can be used to add storage to awkward open spaces, such as over the refrigerator or
above kitchen cabinets, and are a great way to store kitchen accessories that you use only
occasionally, to help you keep your countertops clear of clutter.

Instant Drawers

Transform a simple shelf or bookcase into a set of tidy drawers by incorporating baskets to keep
items organized and out of sight, but still easy to access. Consider playing with colors and
textures to make the most out of your space and appeal to your style.

Hidden Storage

While we’re all about making a statement, some things are better left unseen. For the Goodies
that you want to keep close but tucked away, use baskets to organize and hide. Baskets can be
found with or without a lid, and are perfect storage receptacles to tuck away personal hygiene,
skincare, makeup or even cleaning items in bathrooms and other areas around your home.

We’re always on the hunt for interesting baskets to add to our collection, both for customers and
for us to use in-store. We add new items regularly, so make sure to check the website or visit us
on Instagram to get the latest scoop on what’s new in store.

GoodWood is located in the Marden Building on the corner of U St NW & Waverly Place. We are located next to CityFirst Bank.

We look forward to seeing you!
